For some transbrakes that's normal, for some it isn't. My T/A pro brake does not need the button pressed for reverse.

Go to MSDIGNITION.COM I think you will find a simple diagram there. The two step rev limiter activate wire will hook directly to the positive side of your transbrake. When activated it tells the two step to select it's second rev limiter. The low side.
Career best 8.02 @ 169 at 3050# and 10" tires small block power.
